I agree. I know I rarely take any notice of TV commercials myself, so wouldn’t want to pay the ridiculous fee to run one! So long as your online video is well tagged, so it shows up easily in searches, it makes much more sense.
I’m another one who does not pay attention to any TV commercials anymore – why do you need to with a DVR. I’m sure online videos are a better way to advertise your firm. Of course you have to be sure that you have relevant keywords.
The last point is the key one for me. Commercials can be easily missed but Internet videos are pretty much permanent. I wonder if you allowed (moderated) comments on them if that would refresh their ranking too?
